Racing Almeria (Spain), 12.2010

Category: Old school motorcycle racing experience

It should be a nice year-end. That was the plan and the idea. So what makes more sense than having my motorcycle, YAMAHA R1 RN22, transported to Almeria by Bike Promotion and then flying to Almeria, the Circuito de Almería, myself afterwards.
Said and done.
Reached the plane in Leipzig just in time and lucky that the plane actually took off. Because on this day of all days a snowstorm set in in Leipzig (nothing unusual in the winter months). Anyway, the plane was able to take off and off we went south, to Spain, to warm Almeria.

The first training to get to know the track began the next day. But it came as it had to come. On the very first day something happened that shouldn't have happened.
Right-hand bend at a nice angle, incorrectly adjusted fork, probably not yet full temperature on the front wheel and the front wheel lost.
The motorcycle slipped to the left and the front wheel got caught in the gravel bed, which led to the motorcycle overturning several times. End of the dream, end for the Almeria race weekend. And that on the very first day. Shit happens.

What can I say, there isn't much more to say about. It's time to pack up and load everything again for the return transport to Germany, to Motorradke in Gera.

At least there was still something good. Now I had the opportunity to test the 2010 BMW S 1000 RR on the racetrack. Not a bad bike, but I still prefer my R1. What could I want more :-).
