The magic word Money Protection Certificate.
Not an empty promise, but facts. Certainly also justified by the legal requirements. Because if a tour organizer does not follow these legal requirements, they are acting illegally and will get themselves into a lot of trouble. Not just problems with customers, but also problems with the legislature.
Who is considered a tour operator or what is a tour operator anyway?
The term tour operator: Companies that combine their own services and those of third-party service providers (e.g. hotels, airlines) into tourist offers (package tours, modular tours) and sell them on their own account and at their own risk.
A tour operator is therefore someone who offers a package of at least two different types of travel services for the same trip or who uses terms such as "package tour", or "arrangement" in advertising. A tour operator for motorcycle tours is therefore already a travel provider or tour operator if he rides with his companions from the 1st hotel to the 2nd hotel on his own account.
What is the Money Protection Certificate?
In travel law, the Money Protection Certificate is a security certificate that proves that the traveler is covered by credit institutions or insurance companies for payments made to the tour operator. Regardless of whether it is just a down payment on the travel price or the entire travel price.
The obligation of every tour operator to provide Money Protection Certificate with every package tour has existed in German travel law since 1994. The reason for the introduction was several, sometimes spectacular, insolvencies of travel companies (including large companies such as Thomas Cook in autumn 2019), which led to holidaymakers being "stranded" at their holiday destination or losing payments they had made. Since then, tour operators have only been allowed to demand advance payments or the entire travel price from the traveler before the start of the trip under certain conditions. This is because by making payments, the traveler assumes the advance payment risk, with the risk that the package tour can no longer be carried out in whole or in part due to a possible insolvency of the tour operator and the traveler will no longer receive his payments back. Without presenting a Money Protection Certificate, the traveler is even entitled to cancel the trip, even contrary to the tour operator's general terms and conditions, and to demand the return of the money already paid.
The Money Protection Certificate protects travelers, including participants on motorcycle tours who have booked a motorcycle tour as a package tour, against the insolvency of their tour operator. This means that even if your tour operator is no longer able to pay and can no longer fulfill the promised travel service, you will definitely get your money back and even any additional costs incurred. It does not matter whether the insolvency occurs before the start of the trip or during the trip.
So! Are you really looking forward to your next motorcycle adventure?
You have certainly invested a lot of time in your considerations. A lot of thought about where you are going and with whom. Alone or in a group. You have or will be spending a lot of money and really just want to enjoy the unadulterated anticipation. You definitely don't want to have to worry about what could happen to your money. You just want to feel safe about what will happen to your money.
Is my trip automatically covered by MotoGS WorldTours?
YES, that means that the Money Protection Certificate is automatically included in your travel booking without you having to book it separately or ask for it. Even if we sometimes put together our trips individually, you are booking a complete package with us, i.e. by definition a package tour, and you are therefore covered by the Money Protection Certificate in accordance with applicable European Union law, specifically in accordance with German law, without you having to do anything.
Does the Money Protection Certificate cost me anything extra?
Your safety is important to us and we think you deserve to enjoy unadulterated anticipation. That's why we cover 100 percent of the costs that we incur as tour organizers for the Money Protection Certificate, i.e. without passing anything on to you as a participant.
If something goes wrong, will I get all my money back?
Travel carefree with the Money Protection Certificate!
Yes, in the unlikely event of insolvency, you will get all your money back for all services booked through us, such as accommodation or activities. In addition, you only pay a deposit as a reservation fee and the remaining amount 120 days before the start of your tour and only when it is 100% certain that the tour will actually take place.
Does every tour operator issue a security certificate such as Money Protection Certificate?
According to current EU law, every tour operator based within the EU that offers package tours or travel packages MUST also issue a travel security certificate. However, as everywhere, there are "loopholes" to avoid having to pay the high costs of this travel security certificate. For example, an operator only acts as a pure travel agent and does not work on its own account, but you actually book and pay for your trip with a travel agency based outside the EU.
