Itinerary
Day 0, day of arrival, 19.04. or 14.05.
At the international airport Resnik Airport (SPU) in Split you will be met by our staff. There are very cheap flights to Split from almost all major airports in Europe and especially from Germany.
Participants from outside Europe can use the international airport Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG) in Zagreb as a stopover.
We will welcome you on arrival and take care of your transfer from airport in Split to your hotel in Trogir. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the parking spaces and our Meet&Greet location for the motorcycles.
Almost all BMW GS models are at your disposal, our bikes are all as good as new and in top condition, so don't worry, you can look forward to the tour!
- BMW F750GS,
- BMW F800GS,
- BMW F850GS,
- BMW F900GSA,
- BMW R1250GS, and
- BMW R1300GS.
The evening before departure, and before dinner together, we will inspect the motorcycles together. We will carry out any necessary set-up, for example for the rider height, and you will receive a thorough briefing. You will then have the opportunity to stow some of the luggage you have brought with you in the practical side cases and the top case. And the best thing about it: the next morning you can store all your luggage that is not going on the trip - such as suitcases etc. - in our rooms, dry and carefree.
Luggage transportation is therefore not necessary. All motorcycles have sufficient storage space, even with a passenger.
Day 1, departure day 20.04. or 15.05.
After grabbing some breakfast at our hotel and a quick briefing, we hit the road.
The road is in good shape, but it's a bit winding as it takes us north to the most famous place in Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes National Park (HR). The route is about 215 km. This tour will show us magnificent landscapes and views. We'll also be staying in our first overnight accommodation nearby. After checking into our hotel rooms, we'll visit the national park together.
Plitvice is known for its natural beauty, with its lakes and waterfalls, and it's no surprise that it's one of the most popular spots in Southern Europe. It's been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
The lakes are an absolute must-see.
Day 2
The next morning, we'll head back to the Adriatic coast via some small winding roads.
On the way down to sea level, we'll get a great view, and then we'll come back up to the Krka Waterfalls. Our journey ends this day after 285 km in Skradin, at the foot of the Krka National Park.
After checking into our hotel, we'll head out to explore the national park.
If you're up for it, you can take a dip in the clear water and catch a glimpse of the first hydroelectric power station in Europe.
The Krka River starts in the Dinara Mountains on the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The river is only 73 km long from its source to its mouth in the Adriatic Sea at Šibenik. More than half of it is in a national park.
Skradin, a small town with a charming town center and a tiny marina, is the perfect base for exploring the area.
So, the entrance to the park in Skradin is a great spot to base yourself and explore a big part of the park.
Day 3
Today, you'll start in Skradin and take a short coastal ride on the famous and winding Jadranska Magistrala, which is super impressive. Built in the 1960s and 1970s, it's considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque coastal roads in the world. Anyone who's ridden it knows what it means.
But we're not just going to ride along the coast. Near Trogir, we'll turn left and head up into the mountains to Izvor Cetine, also known as the Blue Spring. Izvor Cetine), also called the Cetina Spring, is a stunning blue spring in the Croatian highlands, located near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, north of Split.
After a quick stop, we'll head down the valley to Omiš. On day three, we've travelled another 262 km and are planning to spend the night in the scenic village of Omiš, where we'll also grab some food.
Day 4
We set off today at our usual time, 8:00 a.m.
After a hearty breakfast, we continue south, again a short distance along the Jadranska Magistrala.
We're not going as far as Neum in Bosnia and Herzegovina this time, though. We're leaving the coastal road a bit earlier and turning left into the mountains. We'll cross the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina up in the mountains. Our journey today takes us to the Kravice Waterfalls.
If we find the time, we'll definitely jump in the beautiful, clear water.
Then we continue on our 296 km journey to the Old Bridge in the historical city of Mostar.
We'll check into our rooms back in Croatia in the late evening, after we arrived to the coast at Dubrovnik, Croatia. We'll definitely make time to check out the Old Town of Dubrovnik.
It's a must, and of course, we'll also have dinner together there.
Day 5
Today, we've got a long day ahead of us.
We're going to ride about 315 km, past many lakes and mountains, on winding roads. We'll cross the border into Montenegro, and our first stop will be Bay of Kotor. We'll then head to Lipa Cave, which is one of the largest caves in Montenegro and the only one you can visit.
This karst cave has a system of corridors, caves, and passages that are about 2.5 km long, and part of it is used by an underground river.
Later, we're heading into the mountainous interior to the Durmitor Mountains and national park. It's absolutely stunning - the name Montenegro (Black Mountain) is really fitting. The ride to Durmitor National Park (up to 1,900 m above sea level) is the highlight of the day, and we'll spend the night in the highest town, Žabljak, which is almost in the middle of Montenegro.
However, our hotel is located about 16 km outside of Žabljak, right next to the river Tara, and it's very difficult to access. We'll park the motorcycles in Žabljak and take a river boat to the hotel.
Day 6
The next morning, we'll keep going through Tara Canyon back towards the Adriatic.
We'll cross the border into Albania. But before we hit the road for the long journey, we've definitely got to check out the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge, which offers stunning views of the river Tara. The gorge isn't as famous as some, but it's still the deepest in Europe.
The roads in Durmitor National Park are going to take your breath away. Heading southwest to the coast, we'll pass Shkodra Lake and return to Montenegro for now to check out the Old Bar fortress. Just a heads-up: this isn't a bar, but an old fortress. It's the oldest fortress in the country, and it's located below the mountain Rumija on a steep cliff. The fortress has a wild history, shaped by the many civilizations that once called the area home.
We're spending the night in a historic coastal town called Budva. Today, we've covered another 292 km.
Day 7
Today, we've got 298 km to go, and since the roads are pretty winding, we're planning a longer journey.
We're riding to Albania, passing Shkodra Lake and continuing along the southwestern part of the lake into Albania.
Shkodra Lake is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula and, according to some, the second largest lake in southern Europe after Lake Garda. The name comes from the Italian name of the Albanian town of Shkodra, which is at the south-eastern tip of the lake.
We pass a bunch of other small lakes and rivers on our exciting journey into the Lezhë District, and then head inland to the vicinity of Fierza Lake, where we'll spend the night in a hotel in the Lezhë District.
After this long bike ride, everyone deserves a rest, but don't worry, we'll continue on time at 8:00 a.m. the next morning. We're not far from our first day off, and it's one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast.
Day 8
As promised, we're continuing our journey on a 342-kilometer route across Albania to the south.
Which means, riding for about six hours, so we'll have plenty of time to soak in the culture of the people in the Albanian interior.
We'll be travelling along the mountains, through valleys, and alongside numerous rivers with impressive fauna and flora.
We're steering clear of the coast this time, as our final destination is the beautiful Ksamil National Park.
Upon our arrival, we'll check into our hotel and treat ourselves to a well-deserved break.
We've planned a full day of rest and relaxation, as we're about to embark on an exciting new adventure.
Our next stop is Durrës, where we'll hop on a ferry to Italy.
We've got two days to reach Durrës, and we're ready for the journey!
Day 9
Today is a day off, and it's all about having fun!
Get ready for a day of relaxation:
- Go on an adventure and explore the area on your own
- Swim or snorkel in the beautiful waters
- Kick back and enjoy life to the fullest
- Share your experiences and have a blast reminiscing
- Enjoy a cold beer
- Share stories and jokes from your childhood...or just laugh and have a good time!
No matter what you do, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself.
And remember, we'll be kicking off the next morning with a bang, so make sure you're all geared up and ready to go by 8:00 a.m. See you out there, friends!
Day 10
Today we said goodbye to the lazy life and are ready to experience more.
As mentioned, we've got just two days to reach our ferry in Durrës. Our adventure takes us back to the beautiful northern region of Albania, heading towards the vibrant city of Durrës.
We'll be riding through the heart of Albania, past the majestic Tomorri Mountain. We're thrilled to make a stopover in Berat, where we'll spend the night. It's a short 204 km from our current location to Berat, but we're not just stopping for a quick visit.
We'll be riding for about 7 hours, so we'll have plenty of time to take in the views. But that's not the point. The journey itself is the destination. We'll be rewarded with the best memories and a well-deserved beer together at our hotel in Berat that evening.
But always remember that the next morning, we'll hit the road at 8:00 a.m. and we'll all be eager to get home safe and sound, because safety is always our top priority.
Day 11
We're gearing up for another amazing day!
Starting with a clear head and a daily goal in mind. As always, we are focused on what lies ahead. Our destination today is the port of Durrës.
The total distance today is only 160 km, which gives us time to visit the Elbasan Castle in Elbasan and the Grand Park of Tirana.
The Grand Park of Tirana in Tirana is another must-see. We'll have plenty of time to see everything worth seeing today, and we're going to make the most of it!
Check-in for the transfer to Italy will take place at around 7:30 p. m. and the ferry will leave the port of Durrës at around 10:00 p. m.
While the ferry will sail effortlessly, taking us to Bari, we'll enjoy a restful sleep in our cabins. We'll arrive in Bari at 8:00 a. m. the next morning, feeling completely rejuvenated.
Life can be so easy and comfortable!
Day 12
We leave the port of Bari immediately after our arrival and a leisurely cup of coffee in one of the small cafés at the port and head west, across the southern part of Italy, before continuing north, or rather towards “Tuscany”, after our next overnight stop.
We pass through typical Italian old towns on the way to our first stopover in Italy, in Caianello and 309 km covered.
This is where we will also spend the night.
Day 13
On the 13th day of our journey, we're setting off on another 272 km.
We're rolling through charming Italian villages, the kind you'd expect to find in a country like Italy. Next up, we're heading to the Castle Boncompagni Viscogliosi and the breathtaking Cascata di Isola del Liri.
We'll have plenty of time for lunch and to explore the village.
We continue northwest, passing close to Rome but avoiding the traffic and hectic pace of the city. Today's destination is the breathtaking Lago di Bracciano, where we'll spend the night along the scenic lakeside promenade.
This day is going to be unforgettable!
They say many roads lead to Rome, but today we've decided to take a different route, steering clear of the bustle and choosing instead to explore the less-traveled roads. Anyone who has ever ridden through Rome knows why it makes more sense not to ride through Rome with a motorcycle group. Not even if, for example, the Vatican City or the Colosseum were within reach.
Day 14
Finally, the time has come. We are leaving the certainly beautiful Lago di Bracciano but are now on our way to what is certainly one of the most beautiful parts of Italy.
Of course, the Italian Alps and Tyrol have a lot to offer. But Tuscany is just Tuscany. Nowhere in Italy are there more picturesque places, regions and landscapes than here, here in Tuscany.
In short, we set off at a leisurely pace on the 195 km ahead of us. We just want to enjoy this landscape.
We head towards Lago di Bolsena, where we will ride along the lake for quite a while. Then the Val d'Orcia region begins and further up north the Province of Siena.
You simply have to experience it all.
In the evening, we happily reach the town of Monteriggioni, in the heart of Tuscany and our last overnight stop in Italy.
Day 15
It's back to the starting point, but that's just another opportunity to learn and grow! We've come a long way. We've already covered around 3,500 km by road and ridden through five countries.
Today, we begin the final stage of our journey, and we're excited to see what adventures await us on the road ahead. We're setting off from Tuscany, heading for the port of Ancona. Before bidding farewell to our final overnight stop, we'll have the pleasure of exploring the renowned Duomo di Siena. Then, we're off to the beautiful Lake Trasimeno, where we'll ride along the scenic route. We'll also be passing through the stunning Parco Regionale del Monte Cucco.
The adventure will culminate in the late afternoon, when we arrive in the port of "Ancona. This day of adventure saw us covering an additional 268 km on our motorcycles. At 5:00 p.m., we'll head to the ferry terminal for our return trip to Croatia.
We're setting sail for our crossing to Split at around 7:30 pm, and we can't wait! As always, we're sleeping in a cabin on the ferry, and we'll arrive in Split early the next morning.
Day 16
Arriving at 7:00 a. m. in the port of Split, we will be ready to go again at 08:00 a. m. and leave the port for Trogir. There we will park the motorcycles and sit down together for a cup of coffee.
We will end the tour that evening with dinner together at the hotel or preferably in the old town of Trogir. The costs for dinner (excluding drinks) and overnight stay are of course on us.
The next day, we have to say goodbye. Unfortunately!
Day 17, Farewell day 06.05. or 31.05 and day to say goodbye
If you already want to go home and have booked a return flight for this day, the 17th day, you are of course free to do so.
However, you are also welcome to extend your stay by a few more days by prior arrangement with the hotel.
You will make your way home again with many wonderful memories.
