Travel Rescue Support for Motorcycle Tours

A motorcycle tour can take riders far away from normal travel routines. Guided and self-guided motorcycle tours may include long riding days, remote roads, mountain regions, ferries, border crossings, changing weather and countries where specialised emergency support may not always be close by.

Global Rescue provides membership-based travel risk, medical advisory, field rescue, evacuation and security support services for travellers worldwide. For motorcycle riders joining a MotoGS WorldTours tour or self-guided motorcycle arrangement, this can be a useful additional layer of preparation for serious emergencies abroad.

You will find the external Global Rescue button at the end of this page, below the information text. The button is labelled “TRAVEL RESCUE SUPPORT WEB”. Use this button to review current Global Rescue membership options, services, terms and conditions directly with Global Rescue.

Why Global Rescue Can Be Relevant for Motorcycle Touring

Motorcycle touring is not the same as a normal city break or hotel holiday. Riders may travel through different countries, ride in remote areas, use ferries, carry luggage on the motorcycle and spend many hours on the road each day.

In a serious medical or security situation, the important question is not only whether you have travel insurance. Riders should also think about who can provide emergency coordination, medical advice, field rescue, evacuation support or transport assistance when normal local solutions are not enough.

Global Rescue Is Not Ordinary Travel Insurance

Global Rescue should not be confused with standard travel insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, motorcycle insurance or motorcycle excess insurance.

Traditional travel insurance usually focuses on financial protection, such as cancellation costs, baggage issues or certain medical expenses. Global Rescue membership focuses on emergency support, medical advisory, field rescue, evacuation-related assistance and security services, depending on the selected membership and applicable terms.

Global Rescue states that it is not an insurance company. Riders should therefore not treat Global Rescue membership as a replacement for personal health insurance, private accident insurance, travel cancellation insurance, motorcycle excess insurance or any mandatory insurance required for the tour.

Guided Tours, Self-Guided Tours and Overseas Travel

Global Rescue may be relevant for riders joining guided MotoGS WorldTours tours, self-guided motorcycle arrangements or GPX-based routes, especially when the ride includes long distances, remote regions, cross-border travel or overseas destinations.

For Balkan and European tours, riders may travel through several countries and different road environments. For New Zealand tours, riders may be far from home, in a different time zone and dependent on local medical and transport systems if something serious happens.

Because services, eligibility and availability can depend on the rider’s country of residence, destination, route, travel dates and selected membership, riders should always check directly with Global Rescue before purchasing any membership.

What Global Rescue Does Not Replace

Global Rescue can be a useful travel rescue and emergency support option, but it does not replace all other protection that a motorcycle rider may need.

  • personal travel health insurance
  • private accident insurance for the rider
  • travel cancellation or trip interruption insurance
  • motorcycle insurance or motorcycle excess insurance
  • customer money protection under German package travel rules where applicable
  • the rider’s responsibility to follow tour, rental, road traffic and insurance rules

Important Membership Notes

The legally binding services, limits, exclusions and conditions are defined exclusively by the current Global Rescue membership terms and conditions.

MotoGS WorldTours provides this information as a general customer service and partner reference. Global Rescue decides which memberships are available, what services are included and whether a specific situation qualifies under its current terms.

Before purchasing any membership, riders should check directly with Global Rescue which services are included, which countries and situations are covered, what exclusions apply and whether additional travel insurance, health insurance or accident insurance is needed. To do this, use the external button labelled “TRAVEL RESCUE SUPPORT WEB” at the end of this page.
