MotoGS WorldTours – Who We Are

MotoGS WorldTours – real adventures. Real countries. Real motorcycling.

Sometimes a real adventure doesn’t start with a detailed business plan, but with a simple thought: “There has to be more than routine.” That’s exactly how MotoGS WorldTours was born.

My name is Frank, and since the late 1990s I have spent my life on two wheels – riding through Europe, South America and New Zealand. What began as a passion gradually turned into a deep conviction: the best motorcycle adventures happen where experience, real human encounters and challenging routes come together.

In 2016 I moved to New Zealand and discovered a country that shaped me with its raw nature, dramatic roads and endless open spaces. There – and later in Panama and Colombia – I understood what truly defines a valuable motorcycle journey for me: a combination of respect for the land, honest passion and routes you don’t simply “ride”, but fully experience.

From these years of impressions, mistakes, successes and countless kilometres, MotoGS WorldTours was created. No theory. No purchased GPX files. Only tours I have ridden myself, refined myself and improved again and again – until every kilometre felt exactly right.

Today we focus on demanding motorcycle tours through the Balkan countries and on selected routes in New Zealand. Every tour has been personally scouted, ridden multiple times and added to our program only when it was truly ready. We deliberately keep our groups small – no more than six to seven motorcycles – because real connection only happens when every rider is seen and every moment is shared.

MotoGS WorldTours stands for quality over quantity, for authentic experiences instead of mass tourism, and for journeys that don’t just connect roads, but connect people. The family-like atmosphere we value so much is the reason why we now welcome riders from all over the world – and the best part: many of them choose to return.

Ride the adventure. Live the moment.

The whole story – The origin of MotoGS WorldTours

MotoGS WorldTours is the result of a lifelong passion for motorcycles that has grown over decades. Our guided motorcycle tours are built on real-world riding experience – not on theory or spreadsheets. Anyone booking one of our guided motorcycle tours today benefits from routes that have been personally ridden, tested, and refined. Every tour is the outcome of passion, knowledge, and thousands of miles across Europe, South America, New Zealand, and the Balkans.

From the first miles to today’s tour operator

Motorcycling has been a constant part of my life since the late 1980s. From 1998 onwards, I began exploring Europe intensively on two wheels – later followed by South America and eventually New Zealand. These were years full of riding experience: high alpine passes, coastal roads, off-road sections, sudden weather changes, and encounters that shape the way you travel. For me, motorcycling has always been the most direct form of freedom. It was only a matter of time until this passion evolved into a professional tour operation that focuses on quality rather than quantity.

New Zealand – a country that changes how you ride

In 2016, I decided to leave Germany behind and move to New Zealand. What started as a fresh beginning became a turning point: both the North and South Island offer an incredible variety of roads, landscapes, and climates. At first, I spent time on racetracks such as Taupo or Hampton Downs, but it soon became clear: the real stories are written away from the circuit – in the mountains, along the coast, and in remote regions that you only reach if you are willing to cover serious distances. Switching to an INDIAN Bobber Scout opened up a new world. Long-distance touring, cultural encounters, and intense nature experiences laid the foundation for the routes we ride today – especially our New Zealand Adventure Tour.

Latin America – where the vision became crystal clear

After several years in New Zealand, the journey continued to Central America and eventually to Colombia. The winding Andean roads, tropical climate, and dramatic altitude changes made Colombia a dream – and a challenge – for every serious motorcyclist. Somewhere between these curves, the idea took shape to create motorcycle tours that are different: more personal, more authentic, and firmly rooted in real experience. From this vision, MotoGS WorldTours emerged – a tour operator offering guided motorcycle adventures at a level that clearly stands apart from standard group tours.

Why MotoGS WorldTours rides in small groups

While many operators travel with groups of 10, 15, or more motorcycles, we deliberately take a different approach: a maximum of six to seven bikes per group. This allows us to offer:

  • more safety and control on challenging routes
  • direct communication between tour guide and riders
  • flexible day planning and spontaneous adjustments
  • a comfortable and harmonious riding pace for everyone
  • real camaraderie instead of anonymous mass tourism
  • a family-like atmosphere and space for genuine friendships

This philosophy attracts riders who are looking for a true motorcycle adventure – not just a generic guided tour.

The Balkan region – Europe’s most demanding motorcycle playground

Our tours through the Balkan countries combine demanding roads, spectacular landscapes, and rich culture. This region offers a level of variety and intensity that even very experienced riders still find surprising. Our most popular adventures include the Balkan-Carpathians-Albanian Alps Tour 1 and Balkan-Carpathians-Albanian Alps Tour 2, which feature some of the most impressive mountain passes and regions in Europe.

Further highlights include:

  • the Albanian Alps with Theth and the Valbonë Valley
  • Montenegro’s dramatic mountain regions, the “black mountains”, and Durmitor National Park
  • panoramic roads along the Croatian Adriatic coast
  • high plateaus and remote mountain areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • national parks and rugged mountain terrain in North Macedonia
  • Romania’s legendary Făgăraș Mountains with the Transfăgărășan and Transalpina (DN67C)
  • the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes – from the French Alps all the way to the Côte d’Azur

These routes are not copied from maps or blogs – they have been personally scouted, ridden multiple times, and continuously optimised.

With a great deal of commitment, passion, and attention to detail, we have developed seven fully structured guided motorcycle tours. Every route has been ridden, documented, refined, and converted into complete GPX navigation files. But it’s not only the roads that are special – the overnight stays are just as important and carefully selected.

We don’t just “sleep somewhere”. Many of our hotels have a unique character or an exceptional location: a lodge in the middle of nowhere right next to a river at the bottom of one of Europe’s deepest canyons; a centuries-old mountain village hotel, completely car-free and full of history; charming guesthouses in national parks and regions that even seasoned riders don’t have on their radar. These places are part of the experience and turn a motorcycle tour into a journey you’ll remember for a lifetime.

Our tours cover the full spectrum of what the Balkans – and beyond – have to offer. They connect spectacular mountain ranges, passes, and coastal roads with thorough route planning and carefully designed tour concepts. Each trip is an intense experience in terms of riding, scenery, and culture.

Our guided motorcycle tours at a glance

Deep canyons, high alpine passes, technical mountain roads, lonely high plateaus, Mediterranean coastal sections, and authentic cultural highlights – each one of these guided motorcycle tours is designed to offer a balanced mix of adventure, comfort, and pure riding enjoyment.

All our tours are designed to run approximately 95% on paved roads – no off-road sections – but always far away from the typical tourist routes. We deliberately choose remote backroads that even experienced riders, who believe they know the region, have often never seen. These roads are usually known only to locals and offer landscapes and viewpoints that remain hidden from conventional tourism. Every riding day is planned so you can experience scenery that most travelers would never encounter. This commitment to discovering the extraordinary is what defines MotoGS WorldTours.
